Instructions for Authors
The Wits Business Review (WBR) is a double-blind peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to academic excellence, ethical publishing, and the advancement of knowledge in business, management, and strategy, with a particular emphasis on Africa and other emerging markets. We invite authors to maintain the highest scholarly standards and contribute to our mission of bridging academic theory with practical application.Submission Requirements
The corresponding author must provide:- - A valid email address
- - Full institutional and/or postal address
- - Telephone number
- A full manuscript in Word (doc or .docx) or LaTeX (PDF), not password-protected
- An abstract (maximum 300 words), at least five keywords, and clearly defined abbreviations
- Figures and tables properly labeled, cited in the text, and formatted in editable files
- Ethics declarations, conflicts of interest, acknowledgments
- A one-paragraph biography of each author or contributor
Manuscript Preparation Checklist
- Full names, institutional affiliations, and email addresses for all authors
- ORCID IDs and Google Scholar profiles (if available)
- Abstract (unstructured, up to 300 words)
- Keywords (minimum of 5)
- Proper in-text citations and complete reference list in alphabetical order
- Specify all sources of funding
- Include a disclosure statement outlining any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest
- Disclose any use of AI tools in manuscript preparation and their role
- Figures: 1200 dpi for line art, 600 dpi for grayscale, 300 dpi for colour
- Tables: Editable and interpretable without reference to the text
- Equations: Editable in Word format
- Data availability statement with access links or DOIs
- Supplemental material like videos or datasets
- Manuscripts must be thoroughly spell-checked and grammar-checked
Length and Format
- Research articles: 5,000 - 10,000 words
- Reviews, commentaries, letters: 1,000 - 3,000 words
- All references must follow a consistent style and appear in alphabetical order, unnumbered

Manuscripts should be submitted via our online system or by email to the Editors. All submissions are subject to initial screening, followed by a double-blind peer review. Authors who fail to submit a well-formatted manuscript after three revision attempts may be desk rejected.
